Bike to Ice

Even though Days of Ice has been postponed due to Covid, this ride is still on and will be run safely according to the applicable Alert Level guidelines.

Join us for an afternoon ride through New Zealand’s Antarctic history cycling from Scott’s Statue to the Antarctic Centre, returning to the Explorer’s Hub at the Arts Centre.  🚴🏽‍♂️ ❄️

Highlights:

  • Antarctic Society Historian Jane Ellis: The Beginnings of Christchurch as the Antarctic Gateway
  • New Zealand’s current role on the ice  (International Antarctic Centre)
  • Lt. Col. Brandon Tellez, C-17 Commander: Supporting the National Science Foundation in Antarctica

Returning to the CBD, we will end up at Adventure Books (Explorers Hub) in the Arts Centre around 4:30pm to further the story.
