Spokes Tuesday Transport Seminar #2

A series of four presentations organised by Spokes Canterbury and Biketober to challenge and inform you about how we get around our cities.    🚴 🚦 🚴

A different topic will be covered each Tuesday evening during Biketober.

This week’s seminar is Touring by Bike with speakers Nigel Rushton and Martin Fraser.  Whether it be locally or abroad, hear two personal stories of cycling adventures away from home (see details below).

Gather to catch-up from 5pm with nibbles and a drink (cash bar) with the seminar starting at 5:30.

Bicycle Journeys through Pandemic Japan - Nigel Rushton (5:30-6:15) Spokes Core member Nigel is a regular visitor to the Land of the Rising Sun and has travelled there extensively by bike. The presentation covers the latest 15 months of pedalling through the countryside, with the main focus on Kyoto.

Aotearoa From Cape Reinga to Bluff - Martin Fraser (6:30-7:15) Spokes Core member Martin rode the 2021 Tour Aotearoa with his wife Fiona - 3000km over 25 days!  An apologue (fable)?  Far from it!  Martin will talk about the preparation, bike, equipment and planning that goes into completing this challenge plus the ride itself with all its ups and downs.
